Regional economic cooperation expanded across strategic directions

An event was held in Türkiye in connection with the start of exports of Azerbaijani gas to Syria, and discussions were held on issues of economic cooperation with Syria and Gatar.

On August 2, the inauguration of the Türkiye-Syria Natural Gas Pipeline, which will ensure the export of Azerbaijani gas to Syria via Türkiye, was held in the city of Kilis, Türkiye. The event was attended by officials and government representatives from Azerbaijan, Türkiye, Syria, and Gatar.

It was emphasized at the event that, in line with the instructions given during the meeting between the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, and the Transitional President of the Syrian Arab Republic, Ahmad Al-Sharaa, held in Baku in July this year, significant steps were taken in a short period towards the implementation of the project. The transportation of Azerbaijani natural gas to Syria via the territory of Türkiye marks an important stage in the history of our country’s energy exports and lays the foundation for a new energy bridge between the South Caucasus and the Middle East. This significant event, which demonstrates Azerbaijan’s increasing role on the global energy map, also highlights the expansion of our country’s gas export geography along new strategic directions.
