As part of his business visit to Kuwait, Mikayil Jabbarov, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Economy, held a series of meetings focused on strengthening partnerships in trade, investment, energy, transport and logistics, industry, tourism, and innovation. Discussions also included promoting joint projects and exploring opportunities for strategic cooperation.
Minister Mikayil Jabbarov met with Khalifa Abdullah Dhahi Al-Ajeel Al-Askar, Kuwait’s Minister of Commerce and Industry.
During the meeting, the two parties reviewed the priority areas of economic cooperation between the two countries. They emphasized the importance of increasing trade and investment and diversifying business ties through new initiatives and projects. Information was shared about Azerbaijan’s favorable business environment and investment opportunities in its industrial zones. The potential for collaboration under public-private partnership mechanisms in sectors such as water and waste management, transportation, agriculture, renewable energy, and others was also discussed.
As part of his visit, Minister Jabbarov also met with Tareq Sulaiman Al-Roumi, Kuwait’s Minister of Oil and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation.
At the meeting, both sides expressed satisfaction with the strengthening of bilateral economic relations. They assessed opportunities for cooperation in traditional and renewable energy and participation in processing projects.
Azerbaijan’s successful representation in regional and global energy projects and its position on efficient resource management in the transition to a sustainable economy were highlighted. It was noted that Azerbaijan has been a stable partner in the energy sector for many years and plays an important role in ensuring energy security in the region.
At the meeting with Mohammed Alshaya, Executive Chairman of Alshaya Group, Minister Jabbarov discussed potential cooperation and the transfer of advanced experience in the field of innovative solutions and new opportunities in the global business environment. During the meeting, Azerbaijan’s favorable investment climate, access to regional markets, and development prospects in tourism, trade, and the service sectors were presented.
They also explored the possibility of applying Alshaya Group’s international expertise in retail, food and beverage, and service industries in Azerbaijan, as well as implementing joint projects with local businesses.
Additionally, Minister Jabbarov met with Emad Bukhamseen, Vice Chairman and CEO of Bukhamseen Group Holding Company.
The meeting covered information about Azerbaijan’s inclusive business environment and incentives for developing partnerships with international companies. Cooperation opportunities in various potential sectors were evaluated. It was noted that the development of the non-oil sector is a priority for Azerbaijan, and special emphasis is placed on long-term cooperation with international partners in this context.
