Within the framework of the visit of Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov to Qatar, discussions were held on the expansion of economic cooperation with this country in various directions.
The delegation led by Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov paid a visit to Qatar. Within the framework of the visit, a number of meetings were held and discussions were conducted on the development of cooperation with Qatar.
At the meeting of Azerbaijan’s Minister of Economy with the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, it was emphasized that the relations of friendship and cooperation between the two countries are strengthening, and that high-level visits and meetings play an important role in the development of the partnership. Information was provided on Azerbaijan’s economic priorities and potential, as well as opportunities created for investors, and the prospects for the development of joint activities were highlighted.
The Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, stated that his country’s relations with Azerbaijan are based on the principles of sincere friendship and partnership, and shared his views on expanding cooperation in the economic field. The parties assessed the directions for strengthening economic and trade partnership between the two countries.
At the meeting with Qatar’s Minister of Commerce and Industry, Sheikh Faisal bin Thani bin Faisal Al Thani, it was emphasized that expanding trade relations with Qatar is one of the priority objectives in bilateral relations. It was noted that increasing the volume of mutual investments will contribute to the economic development of both countries. During the meeting, information was provided on Azerbaijan’s favorable business environment and transit opportunities, and possibilities for boosting investments in priority areas such as green technologies, agriculture, infrastructure, and industrial modernization were reviewed.
During the meeting with the Chief Executive Officer of the Qatar Investment Authority, Mohammed Saif Al-Sowaidi, it was noted that there are great opportunities for strengthening joint investment activities with Qatar. Issues such as mutual investments, potential joint projects, and the deepening of partnership relations between the business entities of both countries were discussed.
At the meeting with Moutaz Al-Khayyat, President and Group CEO of Qatar’s Power International Holding, the special importance of implementing mutually beneficial initiatives in the economic sphere was emphasized. Opportunities for expanding cooperation with the company in the energy sector and the implementation of joint projects were evaluated.
Within the framework of the visit, documents envisaging partnership in the energy sector were signed between SOCAR and Qatar’s UCC Holding. The memoranda of understanding were signed by Rovshan Najaf, President of SOCAR, and Ramez Al-Khayyat, President of UCC Holding. The Memorandum of Understanding signed between SOCAR and Qatar’s UCC Holding opens up new opportunities for cooperation in oil and gas, petrochemicals, infrastructure, and energy projects in third countries. Another Memorandum of Understanding signed by the companies envisages partnership in the energy sector in Syria and is significant for the restoration of the country’s energy infrastructure and the sustainable development of the region.
