Representatives of several Turkish media outlets visiting Azerbaijan were informed about the country’s industrial zones and the opportunities created for investors there.
Organized by the Office of Azerbaijan’s Trade Representative in Türkiye, the delegation of Turkish media representatives visited the Sumgayit Chemical Industrial Park. They were briefed on Azerbaijan’s economic potential, favorable business environment, industrial zones, the opportunities created for investors, and the projects being implemented.
It was noted that there are currently 9 industrial parks and 4 industrial districts operating in Azerbaijan. So far, 170 business entities with a total investment volume of 8.1 billion manats have been granted resident or non-resident status within these industrial zones. Entrepreneurs have invested more than 6.9 billion manats in these zones, creating over 10,600 permanent jobs. During this period, the industrial zones have sold products worth 16.2 billion manats, of which 5.2 billion manats were exported.
It was emphasized that the Sumgayit Chemical Industrial Park, the largest industrial park in the South Caucasus, operates in the fields of chemistry, petrochemistry, mechanical engineering, construction materials, metallurgy, and others. The park, which covers an area of 613 hectares, focuses on the production and processing of competitive products. A favorable investment environment has been created in the park to support entrepreneurial activity. Entrepreneurs are provided with ready-made infrastructure financed by the state. In addition, residents of the industrial park are fully exempt from property, land, and income taxes for 10 years from the date of registration, as well as from VAT and customs duties on the import of machinery, technological equipment, and installations for production purposes.
Currently, 39 business entities with total investments of over 6 billion manats have been granted resident status in the park, of which 26 are already operating. To date, the park’s residents have sold products worth approximately 14 billion manats, about 5 billion manats of which were exported. In the first quarter of 2025, production in the Sumgayit Chemical Industrial Park increased by 14.2 percent and exports by 17.2 percent compared to the same period last year. More than 6,000 people are currently employed there on a permanent basis. The products manufactured in the park are exported to more than 70 countries.
The media representatives familiarized themselves with the work carried out in the Sumgayit Chemical Industrial Park, including the activities of the production facilities of “Kartaş Kimya” and “Sika” LLC. Questions from the Turkish media representatives about the industrial zones were also answered.
