An appeal was adopted on behalf of the conference participants to His Excellency Mr. Ilham Aliyev, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
On April 25, a conference titled “Constitution and Sovereignty – The Development of Entrepreneurship in Azerbaijan,” dedicated to "Entrepreneurs' Day" and the "Year of Constitution and Sovereignty" in the Republic of Azerbaijan in 2025, was held at the Gulustan Palace with the support of the Ministry of Economy and organized by the Small and Medium Business Development Agency (SMBDA) and the National Confederation of Entrepreneurs (Employers) Organizations of Azerbaijan.
At the beginning, the conference participants visited the Alley of Honor, paid tribute to the memory of the National Leader Heydar Aliyev, and laid a wreath at his monument. They also honored the memory of the prominent ophthalmologist and academician Zarifa Aliyeva by laying flowers on her grave. Additionally, the participants visited the Alley of Martyrs to commemorate the heroes who sacrificed their lives for the independence and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan and laid a wreath at the "Eternal Flame" monument.
The conference commenced with the playing of the national anthem of Azerbaijan and a moment of silence in honor of the cherished memory of the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan.
Representatives of relevant government agencies, public associations of entrepreneurs, as well as businesspeople operating in various fields, participated in the event.
At the conference, speeches were delivered by Gunduz Karimov, Head of the Department of Legislation and Legal Policy of the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Azerbaijan; Elnur Aliyev, First Deputy Minister of Economy; Azar Amiraslanov, Member of Parliament and Chairman of the Economic Policy, Industry and Entrepreneurship Committee; Shahin Bagirov, Chairman of the State Customs Committee; Sahib Mammadov, Chairman of the Confederation of Trade Unions of Azerbaijan; Orkhan Mammadov, Chairman of the Board of the Small and Medium Business Development Agency (SMBDA); Mammad Musayev, President of the National Confederation of Entrepreneurs (Employers) Organizations of Azerbaijan; and Yusif Abdullayev, Executive Director of the Azerbaijan Export and Investment Promotion Agency (AZPROMO).
In the speeches, information was provided about the development of the country's economy and entrepreneurship, the role of national leader Heydar Aliyev in the formation of the private sector, the successful continuation of this policy under the leadership of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, the improvement of legislation to support entrepreneurship, the simplification of administrative procedures, incentives and promotional measures, the prioritization of the development of small and medium-sized businesses, and the importance of public-private dialogue.
A film about the development of entrepreneurship was screened at the event.
At the end of the conference, an appeal on behalf of the conference participants was adopted and addressed to President Ilham Aliyev.
The event concluded with a cultural program.
It should be noted that on April 25, 2002, the national leader Heydar Aliyev held historic meetings with local entrepreneurs, and in May, with foreign businessmen. By the decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, dated April 21, 2016, this significant date - April 25 - has been celebrated as "Entrepreneurs' Day" in our country for 10 years now.
