Vast opportunities for developing Azerbaijan-Spain economic cooperation

At the Azerbaijan-Spain business forum held in Baku, opportunities for expanding trade and investment cooperation between the two countries were discussed. During the first session of the Strategic Economic Dialogue between Azerbaijan and Spain, partnership potential in renewable energy, industry, public-private partnership, climate issues, and other sectors was assessed.

A business forum between Azerbaijan and Spain was held in Baku with the support of the Ministry of Economy of Azerbaijan, the Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Business of Spain, the Azerbaijan Export and Investment Promotion Agency (AZPROMO), the Spanish Confederation of Employers' Organizations, the Spanish Institute of Foreign Trade and Investment, and the Spanish Chamber of Commerce. The forum was attended by officials from both countries, as well as representatives from over 90 companies operating in sectors such as energy, construction, logistics, infrastructure, and others.

The First Deputy Minister of Economy, Elnur Aliyev, speaking at the forum, emphasized that the economic cooperation between our countries has reached a strategic level. He noted that there are great opportunities to expand trade and investment relations with Spain. Last year, the trade turnover between the countries exceeded 300 million dollars. It is crucial to establish closer cooperation in this regard. Currently, work is being done on diversifying economic relations, with particular focus on investment cooperation. In this context, there is significant potential for cooperation in sectors such as green energy, information technologies, infrastructure, agriculture, digitization, and transportation.

It was reported that Azerbaijan is deepening its economic relations with Central Asian countries. This partnership encompasses not only investments but also green energy and other sectors. In this regard, there is significant potential for joint investments and projects in Central Asia with Spain.

The Spanish Kingdom's Secretary of State for Trade, Maria Amparo Lopez Senovilla, shared her thoughts on the development of cooperation between the business circles of the two countries and the opportunities for implementing joint projects.

The Executive Director of AZPROMO, Yusif Abdullayev, and the Chief Executive Director of the Spanish Chamber of Commerce, Inmaculada Riera, discussed the business opportunities between the two countries and the prospects for expanding connections among entrepreneurs.

At the event, Orkhan Mammadov, Chairman of the Board of the Small and Medium Business Development Agency, Marta Blanco, Chief Executive Officer of the Spanish Confederation of Employers, Ramiz Hasanov, Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Spain, and Cristina Latorre Sancho, Ambassador of Spain to Azerbaijan, made speeches on the directions of developing the partnership.

Within the framework of the forum, B2G sessions were organized for Spanish companies on topics such as energy and sustainability, water, infrastructure, construction and engineering, technology, and digitization.

The event continued with B2B format meetings.

First meeting of the Azerbaijan-Spain Strategic Economic Dialogue

The first meeting of the Strategic Economic Dialogue between Azerbaijan and Spain was held in Baku.

The meeting was attended by First Deputy Minister of Economy Elnur Aliyev, Spain's State Secretary for Trade Amparo Lopez Senovilla, as well as heads and representatives of relevant organizations.

The event featured discussions on the current status and future prospects of bilateral economic relations between Spain and Azerbaijan, as well as other issues of mutual interest. Partnership opportunities were examined in areas such as renewable energy, various sectors of industry, public-private partnerships, climate issues, and other fields. The importance of the Memorandum of Understanding on Strategic Economic Cooperation between the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Business of the Kingdom of Spain was emphasized in terms of deepening economic cooperation.
