JICA

The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) is an independent agency supporting the economic and social development of the developing countries on behalf of the Japanese Government. JICA was founded in 1974. Its headquarters are located in Tokyo, Japan's capital. The JICA President is the Shinji Kitaoqa since October 2015. In October 2008, after joining Japan's International Cooperation Bank, JICA started providing concessional loans along with technical assistance. As a result of Japan's administrative reform, the JICA has been transformed into an independent administrative institution from the government's special government institute, providing financial support to developing countries in developing agriculture, social infrastructure, water and energy within Japan's ODA (Official Development Assistance) program.

Currently, the JICA operates in more than 150 countries and has 97 coordination offices in the country. JICA has been cooperating with Azerbaijan since 1998. JICA's Correspondent Office in Azerbaijan is operational since September 2009.
