On the activities of the Trade Representative of the Republic of Azerbaijan for Central European countries in 2019
The Trade Representative of the Republic of Azerbaijan for Central European countries continues his activities to develop trade and economic cooperation between Azerbaijan and EU member states, promote the "Made in Azerbaijan" brand and Azerbaijan's investment climate, and expand opportunities to increase our country's non-oil exports.
In 2019, the Administrative Office of the Trade Representative of Azerbaijan for Central European countries in the Republic of Poland made presentations on Azerbaijan's business and investment environment, transit opportunities and tourism potential by attending 11 international exhibitions and festivals (Poland, Germany, Croatia), 2 export missions (Poland and Switzerland), 2 business forums (Azerbaijan-Poland and Azerbaijan-Switzerland), regional conferences and other events in Poland.
During this period, a meeting was held with the Poland’s Industrial Development Agency (ARP), and discussions were conducted on issues such as cooperation with ARP, attracting Polish companies to invest in Azerbaijan, expanding relations with Azerbaijani business circles, increasing trade turnover between the two countries.
In 2019, the Administrative Office of the Trade Representative of Azerbaijan in Central European countries in the Republic of Poland supported the establishment of relations between about 35 fruit and vegetable wholesalers, a chain of supermarkets, importers of alcoholic beverages, textiles, agricultural machinery and equipment, chemicals, aluminum industry, pharmaceutical, logistics, tobacco production companies from Poland and other Central European countries and entrepreneurs from Azerbaijan. Meetings were held with representatives of the large supermarket chains in Poland, such as Carrefour Polska, Piotr i Pawel, E. Leclerc, Kaufland, including shopping centers such as Arkadia, Galeria Mokotow, Zlota Tarasy, Blue city, Croatia's largest supermarket chain, “Conzum plus d.o.o.”, and the creation of "Made in Azerbaijan" corners in these shopping centers was discussed.
Negotiations were held with the Poland's largest wine importer Tim S.A. on the organization of sales of Azerbaijani wines in Poland, and a business visit of the company's representatives was organized to our country. During the visit, the company's representatives visited the plants of major wine exporters in our country. Negotiations on cooperation are underway. The Administrative Office of the Trade Representative of Azerbaijan to Central European countries in the Republic of Poland supported the organization of a meeting between the Polish company Lukowa Tobacco engaged in tobacco cultivation, supply, processing and sale and Azer Tobacco LLC, a member of the Azerbaijan Industrial Corporation.
In addition, last year the Polish press (Rynek alkoholowe, TTG Warsaw, Rynek Turystczny, Vademecum turysty) published 4 articles on the promotion of Azerbaijani wine and other alcoholic beverages, the country's tourism potential. Moreover, the website www.madeinazerbaijan.pl and profiles on social networks (Facebook, Instagram) were launched to introduce Azerbaijani industrial and agricultural products, tourism services to Polish consumers and businesses.
